Path to Freestanding Handstand

About the Program:

This program was designed for anyone who doesn’t have a consistent 30 second freestanding handstand yet. We have taken the best conditioning and balance drills that have helped our clients and put them into a structured easy to follow plan.

Our program is broken up into three phases.

Phase oneConditioning” is designed to prepare your body for the physical requirements for the handstand and help you develop body awareness while inverted. This is going to be quite a challenge physically, so get ready to take on this challenge mentally as well. You may not be able to complete all 3 rounds in the beginning, and that’s ok! Do what you can, and after a few weeks you will notice that you are stronger and can do most of it. Spending 3-4 weeks on phase 1 will help you find success with the balance drills in phase 2 and 3 much faster.

Phase two Introduction to Balance” begins with the warm-up mobility exercises like before. Then, just one round of some of the handstand conditioning drills to prepare your muscles, but not exhaust you for the balance drills which make up the bulk of this phase. Lastly, you will finish up this phase with one round of conditioning. We recommend remaining on phase 2 until you are consistently achieving 5-10 seconds of controlled balance away from the wall in the practice. Once phase 2 balance drills are dependable, you may move on to phase 3.

Phase three The fight for more balance begins” structure is similar to phase 2, and should be started when you are getting consistent balance with the phase 2 drills. By consistent we mean: 5-7 seconds of balance almost every rep, and some 10 second holds every practice. In this phase we add some slightly more challenging balance drills, while still maintaining our warm-up and conditioning.

Intermediate Handstands!

Intermediate handstand program is designed for those that can hold a handstand for a few seconds and are looking for more! This gives you structure and goals to make your handstand practice fun and challenging. Included are: entries to handstand, shapes to make in handstand, plus different head, hand, and shoulder positions, as well as a wall warm-up/ conditioning section. It's a checklist of skills to work on to become more consistent and solid in your handstand practice. This is the program in between the beginner level and the press handstand level. With purchase you will have access to me for feedback and coaching!

Path to Press Handstand

A magical floaty entrance to handstand is a desirable physical feat for many. Like any other lofty goal, it seems impossible if you don't know how to start. Fortunately, I've been coaching clients toward the press for the past few years and have created a program full of what I think are the most important drills to train for the press handstand.

Included in Path to Press Handstand are 16 videos with detailed instructions and tips for each one. The videos consist of drills and conditioning to build the necessary compression and shoulder strength to achieve the press. The program offers multiple levels of difficulty so you can begin where you are and advance over time. The amount of time it takes will be different for everyone, but when you have sufficient understanding and execution of all the elements of the program, you should be able to take flight! These are exercises I use when training myself and my clients. I also offer feedback and advice if you send me some videos and questions!

Handstand Strong was created to help you build confidence in your body before beginning handstand training. It can also be a great tool to help build strength and prevent muscle imbalances while handstand training.
